Principal Software Engineer

Their platform enables customers to ingest, transform, and act on massive volumes of data intelligently and efficiently. With rapid growth and a world-class team, they’re now looking to bring on a Principal Software Engineer to help architect and scale their next-gen AI data platform.

About the Role
As a Principal Engineer, you’ll play a foundational role in building, scaling, and securing the AI-powered infrastructure that underpins the company’s data processing platform. You will lead end-to-end development of critical backend systems and data orchestration workflows while mentoring the team and shaping product direction.
This is a highly impactful and autonomous position suited for a strong systems thinker with deep backend experience, a data-first mindset, and a passion for building elegant, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and build core components of the company’s agentic AI platform
  • Develop distributed systems for:
  1. Data ingestion from warehouses, CRMs, APIs, and public datasets
  2. LLM-powered data transformation & enrichment
  3. Real-time querying & aggregation (e.g., using Clickhouse/Presto)
  4. Workflow orchestration to act on data (Slack, Outreach, webhooks)
  • Own platform scalability, reliability, and performance as data volumes grow
  • Lead backend design decisions, enforce coding best practices, and support secure development protocols
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, infra, and AI research teams
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers; provide technical leadership
  • Leverage AI-powered productivity tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development

  • Workflow: Temporal, Webhooks
  • AI/ML: LLMs, agentic frameworks
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience designing and building distributed backend systems
  • Expertise in building and maintaining data-intensive applications
  • Deep experience working with cloud-native infrastructure (preferably AWS)
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and secure code practices
  • Experience with high-volume data ingestion, transformation, and querying
  • Strong bias for action, startup mindset, and ability to move quickly with high-quality results
  • Strong communicator and collaborator who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-moving team
  • Exposure to or interest in working with LLMs, data orchestration, and AI tools
  • Familiarity with TypeScript and data query languages is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary: $120,000 – $240,000 (commensurate with experience)
