WHAT ARE COOKIES?An HTTP cookie is a small packet of information sent by GITMAX IT Services Zrt. (hereinafter referred to as "GITMAX Zrt.") or a third-party service server operated by a third party affiliated with GITMAX IT Services Zrt. to the Internet browser used by the user/visitor. The browser usually sends this back to the relevant online service each time it requests data from the service server. The cookies are created by the service itself, or by a third-party solution created by the related third party and integrated into the service operated by GITMAX Zrt. through the browser on the user's desktop or portable computer or mobile device capable of browsing the Internet, where they are stored in a separate location in the back-up memory of the device.

PURPOSE OF THE USE OF COOKIESCookies may carry any information predefined by the service and are intended, among other things, to ensure and accelerate the functioning of the online services by storing and making immediately available information strictly necessary for the functioning of the service. In addition to ensuring the operation of the service, the collection of information may also be used to collect statistical data or to store user-specific data that provide a basic personalization of the website. This may include, for example, remembering the products in the shopping basket or storing the address and contact details of the last content viewed.
CATEGORIES OF COOKIESThere are two main types of cookies in terms of expiry date. One type of cookie lasts only until the browser is closed or the task is completed, i.e. until the end of the session (session cookies). Its sole purpose is to prevent data loss. This type of cookie works, for example, for various forms, which are deleted when the cookie is sent.
The other type of cookie is "persistent", i.e. it is stored on the user's computer beyond the session so that the information it contains can be retrieved by the online service in question (persistent cookies). The data stored in the cookie can be kept for periods ranging from a few days to years, but can of course be deleted by the visitor at any time. User preferences, such as the display language of the website, are usually stored in this type of cookie.
Cookies are also usually grouped according to the information they contain. There are usually three main categories, which are:
-
Necessary cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary to allow the user to navigate on the site and to allow certain basic functions of the online service to work (e.g. search, reading content, shopping, etc.).
-
Functional cookies: Functional cookies are used to optimize the performance of online services and to enhance the user experience. These cookies are usually of the type used by anonymous statistical data collection systems, which process the collected data to allow the service provider to see which functions need to be improved or accelerated.
-
