Senior DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer – Virtualisation to join a global financial technology leader. This is an opportunity to work on high-performance trading infrastructure that powers millions of transactions daily and to be part of a highly skilled, international engineering team.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain virtualisation and private cloud environments, enabling scalability, security, and reliability for critical trading systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Platform Engineering and SRE teams to automate deployments, enhance observability, and ensure continuous service excellence.

This position is based in Limassol, Cyprus, and the company offers full relocation support for you and your family, including visa, housing, and legal assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and define the scope of virtualisation and infrastructure projects.
  • Review and update technical requirements for new and existing environments.
  • Conduct proofs of concept (PoCs) for new solutions and technologies.
  • Develop and maintain deployment procedures, scripts, playbooks, and HCL.
  • Deploy and manage virtualisation environments and private clouds (OpenStack-based, KubeVirt-based).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and scaling using Terraform, Helm, and Python/Golang.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of virtualisation platforms.
  • Maintain and improve observability and monitoring systems (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK).
  • Manage software upgrades, security patches, and configuration updates.
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering and SRE teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of IP-based networking and Software-Defined Networks (SDN).
  • Advanced Linux administration skills (namespaces, cgroups, qemu/kvm).
  • Solid experience with containerisation and orchestration systems (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker Swarm).
  • Expertise in virtualisation (qemu/kvm) and experience with OpenStack.
  • Strong Infrastructure-as-Code mindset and familiarity with GitOps practices.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Helm, and scripting in Python or Golang.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in English (Upper-Intermediate level or higher).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in complex, distributed environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in high-load trading or fintech environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and performance optimisation principles.
  • Experience in automation-driven infrastructure and system reliability engineering.
