A global product fintech is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer into one of its core Payments teams - a high-impact group responsible for money movement and fiat transaction processing at scale.
The team is building and evolving the next generation of payment systems while migrating from a legacy billing setup to a new platform. The services power payment flows used by traders worldwide, so reliability, correctness, and performance are non-negotiable.
The environment is Go-first for new development, with Python also present across parts of the backend ecosystem - you’re expected to have solid production-level exposure to Python systems, even if day-to-day coding is mainly in Go.
Why it’s interesting: - Core business domain: money-moving systems that directly impact global users and revenue.
- Platform transition: a rare chance to influence a migration from legacy billing to a new architecture (real engineering work, not cosmetics).
- High-load + real-time: event-driven processing with strict reliability/performance requirements.
- Ownership culture: engineers drive solutions end-to-end and influence architecture and engineering standards.
Tech environment: - Backend: Go (primary for new features) + Python (evolution of existing services)
- Kafka must-have (heavily used)
- PostgreSQL as the main database
- Kubernetes everywhere
- Also used: ClickHouse / MongoDB / Cassandra
- Microservices, REST/JSON APIs, large databases, complex business logic
What you’ll do: - Build and evolve backend microservices in Go (new features, performance work, reliability improvements).
- Work with production Python-based components when needed across the broader service landscape.
- Participate in architecture discussions and cross-team integrations.
- Perform code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and quality.
Requirements: - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years commercial Go, with a background in high-load, production-critical systems.
- Senior-level Golang expertise. Go looks simple on the surface, but many important concepts sit beneath it - we expect strong fundamentals aligned with these principles: https://go-proverbs.github.io/
- Strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills (ability to read/understand query plans and optimize performance; solid grasp of indexes and production behavior).
- Practical Kafka experience and understanding of event-driven processing in real systems.
- Good understanding of microservices and REST/JSON APIs.
- Familiarity with services running in Kubernetes-based environments (enough to reason about production behavior, debugging, and safe releases).
- Production-level exposure to Python systems (in a mixed Go/Python service ecosystem).
- A strong ownership mindset: you turn an ambiguous problem into a working solution and collaborate effectively with DBAs, Security, and Platform/Infrastructure when needed.
- Engineering maturity: realistic estimates, thoughtful implementation, sufficient testing, and careful releases.
- English — Upper-Intermediate or higher (daily communication in an international team).
We offer: We believe that great engineers deserve exceptional care — both professionally and personally.
